Police and paramedics swarm major motorway after horror pile-up

A multi-vehicle crash has prompted the closure of a stretch of a major motorway. The M1 southbound in Buckinghamshire is closed between J14 (Broughton) and J13 (Brogborough) due to a multi-vehicle collision.

Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service were deployed to the scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance to assist with traffic management.

The National Highways said in an update that emergency services are arranging the "vehicle recovery".

Travellers are facing a congestion of upto 2 miles, the National Highways said. 

From the M1, J14 exit slip, enter the J14 roundabout and take the third exit to Milton Keynes on A509.

Continue on the A509 to the A5130/A4146/A509 Northfield Roundabout.

At the Northfield Roundabout take the second exit onto the A4146 Childs Way.

Continue on the A4146 Childs Way to the A4146 Fox Milne Roundabout.

There, take the first exit onto the A4146 Tongwell Street. Pass through the Monkston Roundabout.

Take the first exit at the A4146/A421 Brinklow Roundabout to the A421 Standing Way.

Continue on the A421 Standing Way and at the Kingston Roundabout take the second exit to continue on the A421.

Continue along the A421 taking the 2nd exit at the Fen Roundabout and Eagle Farm Roundabout.

Follow the A421 to the M1 J13 interchange.

At the M1 J13 interchange take 2nd exit at the first roundabout and 3rd exit at the second roundabout to rejoin the M1 southbound,
