More than 140 alcoholic drinks were seized and an arrest made in one evening as part of an anti-social behaviour crackdown in Derbyshire.

The South Normanton Safer Neighbourhood team have just released details of the haul, which included 120 cans and six bottles of vodka, from 28 May.

They also ordered 32 people to leave the area and arrested one person for breaching the order.

Officers warned anyone still causing problems could face further action.

Derbyshire Police said the operation was timed to coincide with the start of the local half-term holiday, which traditionally sees a surge in problem behaviour.

Pc Mark Stokoe said: "We want to make young people and parents aware that it is now illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to even possess alcohol in a public place, whether they are drinking it or not.

"We also want to let parents know that young people are more likely to become the victims of crime after they have consumed alcohol so please be aware of where your children are and what they are doing."
