Pornographic images 'were of children under 16'

The majority of pornographic images found on a surgeon's computer were of children, a trial has heard.

Douglas Harris, 29, is alleged to have taken, permitted to be taken or made indecent images, as well as being in possession of pictures.

Forensic computer expert Ronald Findlay told Aberdeen Sheriff Court most images found were of children under 16.

Mr Harris denies the charges. He has lodged special defences of incrimination and alibi.

Mr Harris claims someone else could have been responsible for downloading the images.

Mr Findlay said hundreds of images were discovered during an examination of computer items seized from his flat.

Depute fiscal Neil Shand asked: "Did you find images of children clearly under the age of 16?"

Mr Findlay told the fourth day of the trial: "Yes. The majority would have been under 16."

The girlfriend of Mr Harris, Maria Carle, said she was "certain in her heart" he was not responsible for the crime.

The offences are alleged to have happened between 2004 and 2006.
