The second season of Prime Video‘s historical drama Bloodaxe has added five to the cast.

Gard Løkke (Home for Christmas, The Trip to the Northern Lights) will join as a series regular, and Melina Åkerman (Succedera Questa Notte, Granite Harbour), Kieran Bew (House of the Dragon, Beowulf), Sebastian Bull (2 Days, Azrael) and George Burgess (Beast, Spartacus: House of Ashur) will take recurring roles.

Shooting has begin in Ireland on the MGM Television series, which is from Michael and Horatio Hirst ans chronicles the rise of Norse raider Erik Bloodaxe (Xavier Molyneux) and his wife, Gunnhild (Jessica Madsen), the Mother of Kings.

Today’s news comes even before the launch of Season 1, which will tell the story of the fight for the throne of Norway. Season 1 is set to launch globally on Prime Video in early 2027, and we were first with news of the pre-emptive Season 2 order earlier this summer.

Michael and Horatio Hirst are the exec producers, showrunners and writers. Additional EPs include Morgan O’Sullivan for O’Sullivan Productions label, Steve Stark under his Toluca Pictures label, Arturo Interian, John Weber and Sheila Hockin.

Løkke is is represented by The Artists Partnership in the UK and Global Ensemble in Norway and Sweden. Åkerman is represented by Independent Talent and Actors in Scandinavia, while Bew is represented by Markham, Froggatt & Irwin.

Bull is represented internationally by Subtitle Talent Agency, and in Denmark by Charles&Ryaa Agency, and Burgess is represented by Anthony Kidd at Benchmark Creative Management and John Tynan at Untitled Entertainment in the U.S..
