Prince Charles kisses royal follower in Bath

Prince Charles kissed a woman who queued up to see him in Bath after she complained she had only shaken his hand previously.

Patricia Blair Gould, 75, said she asked the prince for a kiss after telling him that she had shaken his hand on four previous occasions.

Describing the kiss, she said; "He went for it. I'm a bit of a hugger and kisser. It is wonderful, at my age."

The prince had been in the city to open a new Highgrove Shop.

Mother-of-three Ms Blair Gould said: "He came into the line and shook my hand. I remembered to bob this time.

"He sort of leaned forward. We both went for it. I'm a huge customer of his Tetbury shop."

The retired tour guide added: "I love the book he wrote (The Old Man of Lochnagar), and I might buy another copy as I've got a sixth grandchild on the way."

The shop in Milsom Street, which is named after the prince's home in Gloucestershire, sells organic foods and lifestyle products which are mostly created by British artisan manufacturers and craftsmen. All of its profits will go to the Prince's Charities Foundation.

Another member of the waiting crowd was Lyn Fowler, a retired nursery teacher, from Bath.

She said: "It is excellent. Anything that brings in a bit of money is good.

"It's something tourists would buy, but I'm not so sure about the residents."

Christine Prescott, of Highgrove Enterprises, said: "The shop in Tetbury has been hugely successful so we are expanding the brand and making the product available to a wider audience.

"We thought Bath was the right profile because of the local market and the tourists."

She added: "We do get a lot of repeat customers for things like the jams and chutneys.

The shop in Tetbury in Gloucestershire opened in March 2008 and there is another store available online.
