The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan reportedly intend to move back to the UK from California later this month.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the couple and their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, will move to a private, non-royal residence outside of London, with no current plans for them to resume their roles working as royals after they stepped back from their duties in early 2020. Archie and Lilibet are enrolled to start at a British school in September.

King Charles was told of the move on Sunday after the Sussexes visited him at his Highgrove home in July, in what was the first time the King had seen his grandchildren in person in more than four years. It's the first time the couple have been in the UK together since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022. The BBC say Charles welcomes the opportunity to see more of his family more thanks to the move.

Last year, Prince Harry lost a legal challenge where he sought to overturn a decision that downgraded his security when he stopped working as a royal. His request for police protection during his visit in July was rejected.

On BBC Radio 4's Today programme, former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, Ailsa Anderson, said that no one had seen the Sussexes' move coming, adding that it was an 'extraordinary surprise'. '

The exact location of where the family will settle has not been disclosed, though the Cotswolds and Northampton area, close to the Spencer family estate, Althorp, are rumoured to be on the cards.
