A prolific burglar who targeted more than 80 businesses and community organisations across Suffolk and Essex has been jailed for eight years.

Mark Davis, 50, of Mendlesham Road, Brockford, admitted 10 burglaries at Ipswich Crown Court and a further 78 offences were taken into account.

He also pleaded guilty to a number of firearms offences.

Davis targeted shops, pubs, sports clubs and schools over a period of two years.

Det Insp Stuart Sowerby said: "His sustained level of offending across Suffolk over this period of time shows a blatant disregard for the law and other people.

"He was not afraid to use weapons to gain entry to premises and was audacious enough to continue to offend even after being caught on CCTV.

"Thankfully such a volume of acquisitive crime committed by one person is rare."
