THE accountancy giant PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said last night it would “vigorously” fight a £40m claim made by a former employee in a race discrimination case.

Romanian Mihaela Popa worked for PwC between 2004 and 2006 and has already lost one industrial tribunal case with the firm.

She now claims to have new evidence which she is using for a new case that is being heard at the Central London Employment Court.

According to PwC , the latest claim relates to the period since Popa left the firm.

PwC said last night: “We believe this new claim is completely without merit and we will again fight the claim vigorously and are confident that we will again be found to have acted entirely appropriately..”

Popa says she was made to feel “like a prostitute” while she worked at PwC and claims that various forms of discrimination prevented her from becoming a partner.
