Commuters on the Isle of Man are being warned to expect delays on Thursday because of the TT race cancellations.

The Mountain Road is due to be closed at 1100 BST and the rest of the course 30 minutes later, for the rescheduled races.

But it means the roads will remain shut longer into the evening, which police said was likely to cause "disruption and delays" in rush hour.

Commuters have been urged to make alternative travel arrangements.

A spokesman for Isle of Man Constabulary said they would "attempt to help everyone to get to their destinations as quickly and safely as possible, and would ask everyone to show patience and goodwill during these busy periods".

Two races - the second Supersport race and the sidecar event - were cancelled on Wednesday because of wet roads.

The first rescheduled race is now due to start at 1215 BST on Thursday.
