RockNess crowds praised by police

Police have praised the behaviour of crowds of music fans who attended the weekend's RockNess festival on the shore of Loch Ness.

Twelve people were detained for alleged offences, including drug dealing, assault and breach of the peace.

Northern Constabulary said the number of reported crimes was low.

Festival organiser Jim King said the event, which attracted more than 30,000 people over three days, had been the "best ever".

Headline acts included Fatboy Slim, Leftfield, Blondie and The Strokes.

Police said festival-goers were patient at the entrances to the site while searches were carried out in an attempt to reduce the amount of drugs being taken into the event.

Northern Constabulary warned that officers would be targeting people heading home amid concerns of drink and drug driving.
