It’s been three weeks since the World Cup officially kicked off, and regardless of whether teams win or lose, players have been benefiting from the event.

Since the games began on June 8, over 1,200 players have been seeing an increase in Instagram followers and are reportedly receiving $10 for every 1,000 followers they’ve had.

According to a report from Better Collective, which was sent to The Post, Cape Verde goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias, also known as Vozinha, has benefited the most from the increase in followers during the World Cup.

Most notably, Vozinha saw a rapid increase in followers after he made an improbable game-saving block against Spain on June 15, which shocked the world.

Over the last 21 days, Vozinha has seen a 17.2 million increase in followers on Instagram, which has estimated an increase in earnings for him at $172,738 US dollars.

A spokesperson from MyBettingSite.co.uk said, “Vozinha’s rise from virtual anonymity to 17 million Instagram followers in three weeks is one of the most remarkable social media stories to come out of a major football tournament in recent memory. A goalkeeper for a nation of half a million people, he gained more new followers during the group stage than Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar and Mbappé put together.

Since Vozinha had his life-changing moment begin, he’s called this moment a dream come true.

Recently, Vozinha and Cape Verde have been one of the best feel-good stories taking place during the World Cup as they made history by becoming the smallest nation to reach the knockout round.

Vozinha wasn’t the only member of Cape Verde to see a follower increase during the group stages as the entire Cape Verde topped with a combined increase of followers at 18.2 million.

While the World Cup has changed Vozinha’s life, it’s also made an impact on Brazil defender Douglas Santos, who wasn’t the most well-known name from Brazil.

Santos followers have increased rapidly at a 1,199%, rising from 192,754 followers to 2.5 million, which is estimated to be an earnings of $25,031.

Some notable names that saw an increase in followers are Lionel Messi, who had a follower increase of 4.6 million followers, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who had an increase of 4.3 million followers.
