Royal Anglians attend a service in Norwich Cathedral

A week of homecoming celebrations for the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment have come to an end with a service at Norwich Cathedral.

The battalion recently returned from a six-month tour of Afghanistan in which five soldiers lost their lives.

Those killed were L/Cpl Scott Hardy, Pte James Grigg, Capt Martin Driver, Pte Robert Hayes and L/Cpl Adam Drane.

The five were remembered at the service at the cathedral.

Before the service, the troops marched through the cathedral grounds, watched by hundreds of well-wishers.

Lieutenant-Colonel James Woodham said: "This is our opportunity to come and say thank you to the people of Norfolk for the support they have given us while we have been away on operations.

"Obviously it gives the public and opportunity to come and see their soldiers."

The soldiers took part in parades through Cambridgeshire and Essex earlier this week.
