Samuel West shares All Creatures Great and Small update and fans
All Creatures Great and Small enthusiasts are set for a delightful surprise as Samuel West reveals some thrilling news. The beloved period drama launched its sixth series in September 2025, before delivering a poignant episode on Christmas Eve. The Channel 5 programme has been greenlit for series seven and eight, each featuring six one-hour instalments, alongside Christmas specials.
The latest series of All Creatures Great and Small, adapted from James Herriot's novels documenting his experiences as a vet in the Yorkshire countryside, is anticipated to continue from the 2025 festive special. On Thursday (June 25), Siegfried Farnon actor Samuel West announced that production on the latest Christmas episode had concluded on what proved to be the year's warmest day, reports the Mirror.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Samuel posted two photographs of the cast and crew, featuring Nicholas Ralph and Rachel Shenton, who portray James and Helen Herriot.
He wrote alongside the post: "We wrapped today on the Christmas episode, on the hottest June day in this country's history, and as far away from December 25 as it is possible to be. Here's Chanel with the final slate, and the Herriot/Alderson family with all of them."
Viewers have been quick to express their enthusiasm for fresh episodes, with one individual commenting: "I'm so looking forward to series 7. I also can't wait for series 2 of Sam and Ade go birding."
A second commented, "We are very, very grateful for the hard work in these extreme temperatures to bring us a wonderful series and another Christmas special!"
A third remarked: "Thank you all, absolutely love ACGAS!! We do appreciate you all working in hot conditions."
With a new run of the drama landing every year since 2020, with Series 5 premiering in September and Series 1 in October, fresh episodes could well materialise in autumn.
While Channel 5 is presently keeping the storyline details of All Creatures Great and Small Series 7 firmly under wraps, Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor at 5, has hinted that there are "many new stories still to tell and more unforgettable adventures ahead".
Barnett stated, "All Creatures Great and Small is a jewel in 5's drama crown and continues to delight viewers year after year. Its warmth, humour and heart, set against the beauty of Yorkshire, have made it a firm audience favourite.
"We're thrilled to extend its future with two more series, with many new stories still to tell and more unforgettable adventures ahead for our Skeldale family."
All Creatures Great and Small is available to stream on Channel 5.
