Scrap metal theft attempt at South Hykeham firm

Police are trying to trace a group of men in connection with an attempted theft of scrap metal at a Lincolnshire firm.

A police spokeswoman said four to five males were disturbed at commercial premises on Long Lane in South Hykeham at about 2130 BST on Saturday.

She said they reversed a red Transit van into gates on the premises in a bid to get away.

They then left the scene on foot and the van was later recovered by police.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
