Serena Williams is set to add to her eye-watering net worth - which is £75million more than Novak Djokovic - with a long-awaited return to Wimbledon. The American tennis icon decided to come out of retirement to play at SW19, where she has secured seven singles titles.

The 44-year-old had chosen to step away from tennis to focus on family life. However, the temptation seemed to be too strong to resist as she returns to Wimbledon as a wildcard entrant. When asked about the reason behind her comeback, the 23-time major winner cited that "it's summer" and "the kids aren't in school" and mentioned nothing about money.

However, Williams will add to her wealth with a SW19 appearance - not that it is needed. The American ranks among the wealthiest female athletes of all time, winning £71.9m ($95m) in prize money alone.

Forbes puts her overall net worth at around £264.8m ($350m) this year, a £37.8m ($50m) increase from 2025. Alongside prize money, Williams has made her wealth from endorsement deals - which include Nike, Wilson and Gatorade - as well as her own firm, Serena Ventures.

This business was formed in 2022 to highlight companies started by women and those from ethnic minority backgrounds. She also holds minority stakes in both the UFC and the Miami Dolphins NFL franchise.

This wealth puts her at around £75m above fellow tennis great Djokovic, who is reported to be worth around £189.4m ($250m). Forbes reports that the Serbian earned £22.4m last year alone and has plenty of endorsement deals to boost his wealth.

The 39-year-old works closely with Lacoste, Asics, Qatar Airways and Joe & the Juice. He has collected an estimated £209m since 2014 from off-court sources alone.

Djokovic has won the most Grand Slams in the men's game with 24 in total. He has Rafael Nadal beaten by two and Roger Federer by four. Williams has one less than the Serbian, but she could change this with a successful return to Wimbledon this year.
