Sickness bug closes three hospital wards in Norfolk

Three wards at a Norfolk hospital have been closed following an outbreak of a sickness bug.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn has shut Marham, Necton and Feltwell wards to new admissions.

Sixteen patients have been confirmed with the norovirus sickness bug and 19 are in the recovery phase, the hospital said.

Visiting has also been restricted. Staff have urged anyone suffering from norovirus symptoms to stay away.

Deputy chief executive Noel Scanlon said: "We are advising friends and relatives to avoid visiting patients at the hospital unless they feel it is absolutely necessary.

"Under no circumstances should visitors go to more than one ward during their visit and all visitors are asked to follow the hand-washing guidance on each ward.

"Relatives with concerns about patients are asked to phone the ward and speak to a senior member of nursing staff."
