Police investigating an assault in which a man was critically injured in Nottingham say they want to speak to six people who may been involved.

A 22-year-old Asian man was taken to hospital with head injuries after the attack near the Bla Bla Bar in James Street at about 2345 BST on Friday.

Police want to speak to a man described as mixed race, slim and 5ft 10in tall.

They believe he was in a group which included three white women, another mixed race man and a white man.

The injured man was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

Det Insp Leigh Sanders said: "These individuals may not realise how serious the injuries sustained by the victim are, but we need them to come forward urgently.

"This assault was seen by a number of witnesses and captured on CCTV so it is only a matter of time before these people are identified.

"If they have nothing to hide then it is in their interests to speak to us and describe what happened as soon as possible."
