Reality TV show Pineapple Dance Studios will not return for a second series, Sky1 has announced.

The show, which centred around several members of staff at the famous London dance studios, attracted a peak audience of 432,000.

However, the show's breakout star - wildly camp artistic director Louie Spence - has been signed up to front his own Sky series.

Celia Taylor, head of factual TV at Sky1, called him a "phenomenon".

She added: "He's warm, talented, honest and is a brilliant laugh. He's just the type of person we want to be working with."

Spence, 41, became popular with audiences because of his frank opinions and over-the-top personality in the show which began in February.

He also became a regular on Harry Hill's TV Burp - often mocking his own over-the-top, perma-prancing antics.

Sky1 has not revealed why Pineapple Studios, which was narrated by Michael Buerk, will not return.

However, according to The Sun newspaper, studio owner Debbie Moore and Sky failed to agree on terms for the next series.
