Solihull man arrested for football banning order breach

Police have arrested another hooligan for allegedly breaching a football banning order ahead of the World Cup.

West Midlands officers raided the Solihull home of a 22-year-old who failed to report to police and hand in his passport ahead of the tournament.

Five men were similarly arrested in Wolverhampton, Wednesbury, and Witton and Erdington in Birmingham on Wednesday.

All six will appear before magistrates on 16 June.

The latest man arrested was a Birmingham City fan who received his order after trouble with Aston Villa supporters in 2007.

He was held for failing to report to a designated police station prior to England's friendly with Japan in Austria last week.

A total of 314 football banning orders, which require recipients to report to police on match days, have been issued across the West Midlands.

Police said most had complied but more arrests were anticipated.
