A son accused of murdering his 100-year-old mother has denied the charge at the Old Bailey.

Michael Fitzgibbon, 62, from east London is alleged to have killed Hannah Fitzgibbon on 24 February.

Mrs Fitzgibbon died from a stab wound to her neck at the terraced home she shared with her unemployed son.

Mr Fitzgibbon from Hainton Close in Stepney pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder when he appeared in court via videolink.

The former cab driver was remanded in custody to face trial on 23 August.
