Three one-day strikes have been confirmed for bus services in the Scottish Borders.

First Bus drivers will take industrial action on 7, 18 and 21 June in a dispute over pay.

An overtime ban is also planned on 8 June which may disrupt some routes across the region.

All services operating in the Borders area and between Edinburgh and the Borders are expected to be affected by the strikes.

Jeremy Purvis, the MSP for Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale said: "It is imperative that industrial action is avoided.

"First operate key routes within the Borders that offer for many people the only means of accessing work and visiting family members.

"For others, First offers the strategic routes in and out of the Borders to Edinburgh, Carlisle and Berwick.

"It is crucial at this stage that a sensible solution is agreed in order to avoid industrial action."
