We knew it was coming, and nearly a year after the announcement of their engagement, frenzied speculation continues as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding date could be approaching.

Rumours are circulating online that the happy couple are planning to get married this week, and while wedding plans have been shrouded in secrecy, all signs point to a massive venue in New York City.

Here’s everything you need to know about rumours surrounding the upcoming wedding.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation, but Friday 3 July is the day that seems to be on everyone’s agenda.

Swifties have pointed out that the popstar has been known for throwing elaborate parties over the 4 July American holiday... So it stands to reason that the beginning of the month be the ideal wedding period.

The ceremony is rumoured to take place at Madison Square Garden. Also known as The Garden, the iconic arena in NY known for hosting NBA games, ice hockey matches and concerts, among other major events.

According to The New York Times, a permit has been filed with New York City officials to close streets around MSG from 2 July to midday 4 July, for an event taking place on the 3 July.

Speculation states that the couple are planning a gathering of 100 people in the arena that seats up to 19,500 people on 2 July. This will be followed by a second event at the arena for about 1,000 guests on 3 July.

If this turns out to be true, pour one out for the security detail, as securing Manhattan's most tightly controlled arena on the eve of America's Independence Day – on the 250th anniversary of the US, no less – will be no small feat.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani jokingly referenced the reports of Swift and Kelce’s wedding during a press conference on 17 June.

Mamdani was answering questions about safety during the World Cup when he said: “We know it coincides with July Fourth, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding all happening at the same time, and we are so excited to welcome the world here.”

However, Mamdani said he had not received an invite...

“I wish them a lovely wedding," he said. "I’ll listen to ‘Only the Young’ at home on my own.”

If we knew that, Taylor would probably have to kill us.

Swift joked in October that “anyone I've ever talked to” would be invited to the wedding, telling Graham Norton that she believed “the only stressful weddings” are those that are small.

Aside from family, The New York Times also reported that several of Kelce’s NFL teammates have booked hotel rooms at the nearby Marriott Marquis for the occasion.

As for Swift, it makes sense that her close friends which include the Haim sisters, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid be in attendance.

Again, the music remains a mystery, but there are rumours that the legendary Stevie Nicks will be performing at the ceremony.

Swift was recently spotted celebrating the Knicks’ recent NBA victory by wearing a t-shirt that read “Stevie Knicks”.

Don't pretend you're not about to search buying options online. We all are.

This detail was enough for Swifties to get sleuthing and arrive at the conclusion that the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman would play for Taylor’s big day. Publications Rolling Stone and Page Six confirmed reports of this rumour.

There are also whispers that country singer Tim McGraw could be playing - something which won't come as too much of a surprise for card carrying Swifties considering Swift's first Billboard hit, released when she was 16, was titled 'Tim McGraw’.

“So I sneak out to the garden to see you / We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew,” sang Taylor in 'Love Story'.

Swift is known for dropping Easter Eggs and clues for her album / single releases, and many have speculated that the Madison Square Garden location and the 3 July date could all be an elaborate ruse to throw everyone off the scent and keep the real details a secret.
