The Lions have released Terrion Arnold as he faces charges that he had orchestrated an abduction and robbery of three men he believed had stolen money and luxury items from him.

The NFL organization made the announcement at 4 p.m., just hours after a Florida judge set a $1 million bond for the now ex-Lions cornerback. Arnold is facing eight felony charges related to the alleged abduction and robbery and had been behind bars since his arrest last week.

EAG Sports Management CEO Denise White, represents Arnold, said Chief Circuit Court Judge Christopher Sabella’s ruling “confirms that there is very little evidence to even suggest any criminal involvement by Mr. Arnold.”

The Lions had said very little publicly about the charges that Arnold was facing, other than to confirm that they were “aware” of the situation and that the organization “will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”

The roster cut ends speculation on if the 23-year-old would have been able to attend Lions training camp later this summer due to the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

An NFL spokesperson had told Pro Football Talk that “the matter remains under review” when asked if he would be allowed to be a part of training camp.

Sabella said during Arnold’s bond hearing that the football player would not be subjected to an ankle monitor upon his release since it would hinder him from training or taking the field for the Lions.

Sabella said that Arnold would be subjected to “paparazzi monitor,” referring to the news media following the case.

“If he is late for practice, ESPN will let us know,” Sabella said during Monday’s hearing, according to ESPN. “If he violates the conditions of his bond, he will be found.”

“If he shows up on a beach in Tahiti, he’ll be on social media,” the judge added, per the Associated Press

A detective testified during Monday’s bail hearing that Arnold offered to pay his 18-year-old lover and her roommate to lure the three men, one of whom worked as a driver for Arnold, with the promise of sex to get them to their apartment.

He is alleged to have orchestrated the scheme in which the three men were abducted and beaten by his associates in February over his suspicions they stole $100,000 in cash in addition to Louis Vuitton bags and Rolex watches from his Tampa AirBNB rental.

As part of his bond, Arnold is confined to his home in Tallahassee, Florida, except for when he would have been playing, training and traveling with the Lions. He’s also allowed to leave for court-related appearances or legal appointments.

He was ordered to surrender his passport and is to have no contact with any of the six defendants or the victims in the case.

The decision made on Monday by the Lions ends Arnold’s short time with the organization after Detroit selected him with its first-round pick during the 2024 NFL Draft.

Arnold appeared in 24 games over his two years with the Lions and started 22 of those contests. Last season, he recorded 31 tackles and an interception for the Lions in eight games before he was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 1 because of a shoulder injury that ended up needing surgery and ended his 2025 campaign.
