Three homes damaged in 'severe' Southampton roof fire
Three terraced houses have been damaged in a fire which spread across roofs.
Crews from nine different Hampshire fire stations were called to the property in Claudeen Close, Swaythling, in Southampton, at 1803 BST on Tuesday.
Fire crews used 35 sets of breathing apparatus and three jets, as well as ladders and a rope pack, to bring the fire under control.
Firefighters remain at the scene making it safe before allowing the owners to return to their homes later.
Station manager Dave Graham said: "It was a hot night and there was a great deal of smoke meaning visibility was reduced.
"Crews gained access and made an aggressive attack, working extremely hard to contain the fire in the three properties affected."
Fire crews at the scene were from St Mary's, Eastleigh, Hightown, Redbridge, Hamble, Botley, Beaulieu, Hythe and Portchester fire stations.
