Time capsule to be buried in Great Lines Heritage Park

A time capsule documenting life in Medway in 2010 is to be buried in the Great Lines Heritage Park.

The capsule will be placed in the park to signify the end of the first phase of improvement works to the site.

It will also mark the completion of a bid for Chatham's historic dockyard to be given World Heritage Site status.

People will be able to suggest contents for the time capsule at a meeting on 28 June.

Documents for the World Heritage Site bid, which is soon to be submitted to the government, will be on display at the meeting.

Councillor Rodney Chambers said the time capsule would hopefully be used one day by future generations to find out about the history of the area.

Current improvement work at the Great Lines includes the restoration and opening of former Ministry of Defence land, construction of paths linking three towns, and better entrances, lighting, seats, information.
