To Mark The 50th Anniversary

To mark the 50th anniversary of V-E Day, music from the great War Requiem by Benjamin Britten, a union of the traditional Latin Mass for the dead with poems by Wilfred Owen. Robert Shafer conducts an ensemble that includes the Oratorio Society of Washington, the Shenandoah Conservatory Choir and the Maryland Boy Choir. Recorded last month on Good Friday in the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center. (NPR)
