A swimmer was rescued from Cornish cliffs after attempting to swim across a bay at Polzeath.

The male tourist, 25, told a friend he was undertaking the swim but did not return after two hours.

The inshore lifeboat was launched at about 1710 BST after the swimmer was located balancing on a nearby cliff face.

Polzeath cliff rescue team winched the man to safety from the bottom of the cliffs. The swimmer was not injured.
