Trains have been disrupted in Lincolnshire following the theft of signalling cables, National Rail said.

Services between Newark Northgate and Lincoln and Grantham were affected, with rail replacement buses used for some journeys.

British Transport Police said they were called to reports of cable theft in the Lincolnshire area at about 02:00 BST on Monday.

The force said it was continuing with its inquires and appealed for information.

National Rail said services were getting back to normal but added while service recovers, LNER trains running between these stations "may still be delayed by up to 20 minutes or cancelled".
