While the World Cup is taking centre stage, the summer transfer window is rumbling on in the background. Manchester City are the first of the Premier League giants to splash out, with a £116m bid for Elliot Anderson having been accepted by Nottingham Forest.

It's a statement signing for the 2023 Champions League winners, with the rest of the teams in the Premier League now looking to sanction deals of their own. Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all in the market for reinforcements ahead of the Premier League season getting underway. It promises to be a busy summer as teams look to prepare their squads for the return of club football.

We bring you all of the latest transfer news and updates below...

Manchester United won't be pushed into a corner regarding Marcus Rashford's future, according to ex-Red Devils ace Teddy Sheringham.

Speaking to ComeOn, he remarked: "Manchester United should be in control of the Marcus Rashford situation, not Marcus Rashford. He is still a Manchester United player.

"That’s what happens when you sign these big, long contracts, and he was happy to sign it at the time to get more money.

"All of a sudden he’s not happy and he wants to leave. Back in my days as a player, if you had a contract you weren’t going anywhere, and it works both ways too. If there’s a contract that’s been signed, both parties should honour that contract.

"But United can try and manipulate the situation to get the best outcome for what they need. He's a United player so why not utilise that situation to get that extra forward back in the squad that Michael Carrick needs? Can they ease the situation and make it work? He’s playing at a World Cup and scoring goals. He’s in your squad. Make the most of it.

"If Rashford came back firing on all cylinders for Manchester United, working hard for the team at Old Trafford, then everyone is going to be happy, aren't they? These things can quickly be forgotten in football."

Bradley Barcola could be on the move this summer.

The winger has been linked to a Premier League switch, with Liverpool one of the clubs said to be interested.

The Reds are in the market for a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement, having waved goodbye to the legendary winger at the end of the season.

Barcola is, as per Sky Sports News, considering his options and could push for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain after the World Cup.

It comes after news broke that Liverpool target Yan Diomande had opted to join the Ligue 1 outfit.

Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on Barcola, but they appear to have focused their attention on Morgan Rogers.

Everton are reportedly close to signing Hayden Hackney.

The Middlesbrough midfielder was instrumental in helping the North East outfit to the Championship play-off final.

It's reported by The Times that a deal worth an initial £16.5million has been agreed between Everton and Middlesbrough.

It's claimed that could rise to a total of £25m if all bonuses are met.

Hackney featured 39 times in the league for Middlesbrough last season.

Enzo Maresca has spoken for the first time as Manchester City manager.

He said: "Manchester City is a club I know very well and to have the chance to manage this team is a brilliant opportunity for me.

"City is an incredibly well-run football club. Everything they do is innovative, planned and purposeful. For a manager, that is a dream situation. It provides the consistency I need to do my job effectively.

"This will be my third spell here. I know this club, I know the demands and I know the expectations.

"The quality of the people who work here is what makes it so special, and I want to thank them for showing faith in my ability.

"I cannot wait to start coaching the players. I want us to win, play good football and enjoy the pressure of representing Manchester City."

Enzo Maresca has officially been announced as Manchester City's new manager.

The Italian joins as Pep Guardiola's replacement, having left Chelsea earlier in the year.

There has been a slight delay to Manchester City's move for Elliot Anderson.

The Blues are unable to put the finishing touches to the midfielder's deal as he's currently focusing on England's round-of-32 clash with DR Congo.

A medical has been done, but the transfer isn't expected to be completed until later in the week, as per The Manchester Evening News.

Anderson is set to put pen to paper on a £116million move from Nottingham Forest.

He will become City's most expensive player of all time.

Harry Kane is reportedly a target for Barcelona.

That's according to The Daily Mail, which reports the La Liga giants are exploring a deal for Kane.

The striker has one year left on his contract and hasn't signed an extension.

The Mail report Barcelona want Kane as a replacement to Robert Lewandowski, who left at the end of the season.

Kane is currently focused on England's World Cup campaign and any deal isn't expected to come untl after the competition, should it even happen at all.

Sunderland have reportedly been left unhappy with Chelsea's bid for Granit Xhaka.

The Blues agreed personal terms with the midfielder, with Xhaka keen on the move.

However, according to The Daily Mail, the opening bid of £8million was considered 'insulting' by the Sunderland transfer chiefs.

Xhaka joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen last summer for a reported £13m.

The 33-year-old was a key player for Sunderland as they stunned the Premier League by qualifying for the Europa League upon their return to the top flight.

Chelsea's pursuit of Xhaka is expected to continue.

The midfield anchor is currently in North America preparing for Switzerland's knockout clash against Algeria.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a medical for wonderkid Cristian Orozco.

The Red Devils have struck an agreement with Colombian outfit Fortaleza CEIF.

That's according to outlets in Colombia, who claim the next stage of the transfer is for Orozco to have a medical.

Orozoco is a defensive midfielder and is set to turn 18 next month.

He has previously captained Colombia at youth level and is being tipped for a bright future.

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a blockbuster Morgan Rogers bid.

The Aston Villa man is subject to interest from several clubs in the Premier League, but Arsenal are believed to be leading from the front.

It's reported by the Evening Standard that Rogers is the Gunners' priority and a bid could follow.

Aston Villa are expected to hold out for a fee in excess of £100million.

Arsenal have broken the £100m barrier once before, back in 2023 when they signed Declan Rice from West Ham United.

Rogers is currently away with England at the World Cup.
