Tribute after Aberdeenshire explosion death
Tribute has been paid to a young mechanic who died after an explosion at an Aberdeenshire garage.
Martyn Massie, 24, was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance helicopter after the incident at Pitmachie on Friday afternoon.
However, Grampian Police later said he had died.
Janet Keith, who owns the garage with husband Willie, told BBC Scotland: "He was a very trusted, hard-working employee. We were close to him."
She went on: "He felt almost like family. Our teenage sons were good friends with him.
"We had the utmost respect for him in his work as a mechanic. He had worked for us since he was 17.
"He was a great young lad, hard-working and upbeat, a really nice guy to have around."
It is understood Mr Massie had been left with head injuries after the explosion.
Grampian Police said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
