Twickenham nursery worker guilty of assaulting boy, two

A 21-year-old man has been found guilty of assaulting a toddler at a south-west London nursery because he wet himself.

The two-year-old boy was allegedly hit on the head with gloves at the nursery in Twickenham on 18 January.

Wesley Prigmore, from Hounslow, west London, was found guilty of two counts of common assault at Richmond Magistrates' Court.

Prigmore will appear at the court on 16 June to be sentenced. He was bailed and banned from supervising children.

The court heard Prigmore swore at the toddler, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after the two-year-old wet himself on two occasions.

The victim told his mother: "Weh [Wes] hit my head."

Prigmore was also accused of using a ruler to rap the child's genitals.

Julian Waskett, defending, said: "The prosecution has brought crushingly serious charges against this young man. It will end his career as a nursery nurse."

Magistrates' chairwoman Sarah Houston described the evidence against Prigmore as "clear and unshakeable".
