Two people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash on the A90 in Aberdeenshire.

The two-vehicle collision was reported shortly before 07:25, south of Longhaven, at the Cruden Bay turn-off.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it dispatched two ambulances and a special operations team to the scene, and took two patients to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed, and motorists were told to avoid the area, but Police Scotland later said it was able to re-open before 10:00.

The A90 is the main route between Peterhead, Ellon and Aberdeen.
