A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing at a house in south Cumbria.

Emergency services were called to the property in Ormsgill, Barrow, on Friday morning after reports of a disturbance.

A man who suffered stab wounds has been taken to hospital in Blackpool, where he is in a stable condition.

Those arrested, a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were taken to Barrow Police Station for questioning, a Cumbria Police spokesperson said.

Anyone who witnessed a disturbance in the area between 1800 BST on Thursday and 0600 BST on Friday should contact the force.
