US envoy wraps up Ladakh visit, skips meeting Dalai Lama

SRINAGAR: US ambassador to India Sergio Gor Friday concluded his visit to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with his much-speculated meeting with Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama not taking place. Gor did not meet any political leader in Ladakh.“Ambassador Sergio Gor wrapped up a visit to Srinagar and Leh this week, highlighting the growing US-India partnership through meaningful dialogue and cultural engagement.

In Srinagar, ambassador Gor met chief minister Omar Abdullah to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and later visited Leh to experience Ladakh’s culture and traditions,” the official account of the US embassy in India wrote on X.Earlier in the day, Gor visited the historic Thiksey monastery, one of the largest and most prominent monasteries in central Ladakh, about 19km from Leh.
