Sam Gordon and Nell Desir won gold in the Welsh Athletics Championships in Leckwith, Cardiff.

Gordon, 31, ran a time of 10.40 seconds, finishing as the top Welsh runnner.

"It feels really good, I can't lie." said Gordon.

"My wife, my son and my in-laws were there, they're the reason I do it.

"It's nice when they get to come down and see me do what I love" Gordon said after winning gold.

18-year-old Nell Desir won gold in the women's 100m running a time of 11.53 seconds.

Cornwall based Patrick Swan continued his impressive week winning gold in the men's shot put throwing 17.79m. This comes only a week after winning Bronze at the UK Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

"It feels really good doing a good performance for my home country" said Swan.

"I know I was born in England, but I feel like a patriotic Welshman at heart."

Osian Parry was the fastest finishing Welshman in the 400m hurdles, running a 52.64, while Sophie Lisk, who finished eighth at the UK Champs, won in the woman's event with a time of one minute and one second.

"Last year I finished second, so I was really driven to win gold today, so I'm happy" Lisk said.

"I kind of wanted a personal best here today, but trying to recover from back to back races this week has been tough."
