Wetherspoons fans who are jetting off on a Spanish holiday will be able to enjoy the branch in two sunny new locations.

The popular pub chain announced a raft of new openings for autumn this year, including a second Spanish location following the opening of its branch in Alicante Airport back in February. It’s also opening a new UK airport branch in the next couple of weeks, so holidaymakers can enjoy a mixed grill or full English before they jet off.

JD Wetherspoons has announced that it will open two airside pubs at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport, with the first set to open airside in Terminal 1 on November 26. Named Sant Jordi, which is a huge celebration of Saint George's Day that happens across Catalonia, the pub’s name gives a nod to its British roots.

Like its Alicante branch, the menu is expected to include the same favourite you’ll see in ‘Spoons across the UK such as pizzas and burgers, as well as Spanish-inspired dishes, and of course, the inexpensive pints that the chain is famous for. In Alicante, holidaymakers can enjoy Spanish dishes such as pan con tomate (bread with tomatoes), garlic prawns, and broken eggs, a dish that’s served with Iberian ham.

A second Wetherspoons will be opened in Barcelona Airport in Terminal 2 in January 2027. Again, this will be an airside pub, for holidaymakers who’ve passed through security. There’s no official opening date or name for this pub listed just yet.

Wetherspoons is also expanding its number of branches in UK airports, with The Belle Vue, which is set to open in Manchester Airport on September 8. Named after Manchester's historic Belle Vue entertainment and sports complex, the pub will hold up to 300 holidaymakers and be set in Terminal 2 after security. It’ll open from 4am to 11pm seven days a week for early and late-night travellers.

The chain also recently opened a new pub at Heathrow Airport, making it the third ‘Spoons in the UK’s busiest air hub. The Sir Frank Whittle opened on July 21 in Terminal 2, and has the same opening hours as its Manchester branch, as well as offering the classic menu that holidaymakers will recognise from their local.

Wetherspoons has also expanded its offering for holidaymakers who like to staycation, opening four new pubs across Haven holiday parks in 2026. Haven’s Cala Gran, Hopton, Lakeland and Riviere Sands holiday parks opened new pub branches, meaning the total number of parks with a Wetherspoons is now nine.

The CEO of Haven Holidays has confirmed he’d like to open more branches of ‘Spoons across the majority of its 39 sites, and said: ““I would like to see us growing this concept further across our estate. I definitely think there is an opportunity for the majority of our parks to have a Wetherspoons.”
