A woman who suffered serious head injuries when she was struck by a motorcycle in Warrington town centre has died.

The 22-year-old from Lymm, Cheshire, was with an 18-year-old friend crossing Brick Street when the collision happened on Thursday night.

Both women were taken to hospital but the 22-year-old later died.

A 23-year-old rider of the Kawasaki was uninjured and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The 18-year-old woman, who is also from Lymm, suffered head and spinal injuries but her condition was described as not life-threatening.
