A sexual assault victim who ran away from her attacker in a Suffolk town was followed by him and subjected to a second assault while she called police.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was walking in Palace Street, Newmarket, in the early hours of Saturday when a man asked if she was OK.

She replied and walked on, but he approached again, grabbed her and sexually assaulted her.

Police said she ran off and was attacked while on the phone.

The victim managed to struggle free and the attacker walked off towards Sun Lane when she spoke to a control room operator.

The man had initially grabbed the woman near the snooker centre and during the struggle the pair fell over a wall into a churchyard.

The woman was shaken but unhurt by the attacks, which happened between 0130 and 0145 BST.

The man is described as about 30, slim, 5ft 5in (1.65m) and of Asian appearance.

He had short dark hair, a goatee beard, a large pointed nose and was wearing a short beige jacket and dark trousers.
