Workers at Jaguar in World Cup England shirts ban

Jaguar workers in Birmingham have been told they are not allowed to wear England shirts or fly the flag of St George during the World Cup.

Staff at Castle Bromwich were also told televisions, radios or flags were not allowed on the factory floor on safety grounds.

Workers will also be unable to leave early for the England v Slovenia game at 3pm on 23 June.

Jaguar said it was unable to alter shift patterns to accommodate the game.

A Jaguar spokesman said: "We made every effort to find alternative patterns for games but it just proved unfeasible to do so at Castle Bromwich.

"All manufacturing employees are required to wear standard clothing at all times as health and safety dictates there has to be specific work-wear in the plant."

Televisions and radios were banned as a matter of course on the factory floor, the spokesman added.
